Journal Entries > Mom remembers my birthday

Trent's story is so much different than Braxton's!  I was at home with Braxton, and Jared was at work.  I started having some contractions, but I figured they were just Braxton hicks, since I wasn't due for another 2 weeks.  I was late 10 days with Braxton, so I expected the worst.

I went about my day as usual, but the contractions were getting worse.  I finally decided to call Jared.  I left a message on his phone to get home because, "I'm having the baby now."

We called our friends, Tyler and Jayna Haws, to come over and sleep at our house with Braxton (he was already in bed because it was 11 PM by the time we really went to the hospital.)  Everyone was really relaxed.

We got to the hospital, checked in, watched some tv (there was nothing on), and I told them to get the epidural person there pronto.  I got the epidural a few hours later, and it worked like a dream!  I took a nap, and then decided, "Let's do this!"

I was somewhat apprehensive because my first experience pushing a baby out was less than desirable.  But good news: my epidural did NOT wear off and pushing was a short 20 minutes (compare to 2.5 hours).  I felt great!  They took Trent after some snuggles, and we both slept for a good 5 hours.  Welcome Trent- you were SO much easier than your brother.  =)  I love you both, though!
